he United States has just made public that seven (7) countries have just been added to the list of eligible nations to participate on the nation’s “Visa Waiver Program”, which allows for restricted, visa-free travel to the United States on certain relaxed conditions.
The newly admitted members to the program (which previously was available to 27 nations) are:
- Czech Republic
- Estonia
- Hungary
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Slovakia
- South Korea
These seven countries have met the requirements for their admission to the VWP list (currently 27) and the DHS will begin implementing the expanded VWP in about one month from now.
Nationals participating in the VWP must travel only for business, pleasure, or transit; stay in the United States for 90 days or less; and, if arriving by sea or air, hold a valid ticket for return or onward travel and enter the United States aboard an air or sea carrier designated as a participant in the VWP.
So-called “roadmap” countries, which are on track to be the next group to qualify for VWP admission, are:
- Bulgaria,
- Cyprus,
- Greece,
- Malta,
- Poland
- Romania
